Minimum wage increase from 1st April 2019

The new minimum wage increase takes effect from 1st April 2019, the rates are set out below:

Age                                 Rate (£)
25 and over                       8.21
21 to 24                             7.70
18 to 20                             6.15
Under 18                           4.35
Apprentice                         3.90

Also increasing, is the minimum pension contributions that are paid in to a workplace pension, these will take effect from 6th April.  The total minimum contribution is 8%, set out below:

Employer Pension Contribution             3%

Employee Pension Contribution             5%

Total Contribution                                   8%
