Spring Budget 2017 – Thoughts and Comments

On Wednesday 8th March, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Philip Hammond MP, delivered his first and last Spring Budget to the House of Commons. With recent Budgets all looking to the future and highlighting what is coming down the track, including increases in personal allowances and reductions in corporation tax, much of what was covered off in his speech was already out there.


There were several hits on the self employed in the Budget speech including a further tax charge on dividends for shareholders. However, after initially announcing an unexpected rise in class 4 National Insurance Contributions, the Chancellor did a U-turn within one week of the Budget speech.
